Migration guide

Bring your catalog with a CSV import.

The path that works today is importing your catalog from a CSV or Excel file. Per-system automatic mappers (Loyverse, Alegra, Siigo, World Office) are on the roadmap; for now you export to CSV from your system and import that into Puntovivo.

Plan in five steps

What migrating takes, step by step.

  1. 01 5 min

    Export your current catalog

From your current system, export the catalog to CSV or XLSX. It must include SKU or barcode, description, cost, price, VAT and stock per site.

    • Unique SKU per product
    • Prices excluding VAT or with VAT marked
    • Stock per site in separate columns
    • UTF-8 encoding (accents render correctly)
  2. 02 10-30 min

    Clean up duplicates and units

Puntovivo deduplicates by barcode and then by SKU. If you sell by weight or by unit, leave the matching column marked. Delete discontinued products before importing.

    • No empty or subtotal rows
    • 13-digit barcodes without a hyphen
    • Sale unit: unit, kg, pound or pack
  3. 03 2 min

Upload the CSV to the importer

From the console, open Settings → Import. Drop the CSV with the expected headers and confirm the column mapping field by field before continuing.

    • Column map confirmed by you
    • Default VAT selected (0/5/19 %)
    • Destination site selected
  4. 04 10 min

    Review the preview and confirm

Before applying, you'll see the summary: how many new products, how many will be updated, how many need your decision. Approve in batches — nothing is applied until you confirm.

    • Conflicts resolved one by one
    • Per-site balance preview reviewed
  5. 05 1 shift

    Reconcile and open the register

Do a physical count of the main site and compare it against the imported balance. The first register opening uses the base you define, not the imported balance. From there on, the flow is normal.

    • Physical count done at the main site
    • Opening with a base you define
    • First test sale completed
Compatibility

Per-system column mapping (on roadmap).

This is what automatic mapping will look like when it lands: the wizard would recognize these columns without you renaming anything. For now you export to CSV and match the headers to the format below.

Our own format

Coming from Excel? This is the format.

One sheet per site, headers in the first row, UTF-8. Copy this example and replace the data.

Frequently asked

What people ask before starting.

How long does it take to migrate a single site?+
If your file comes in clean, between 30 and 90 minutes from export to the first test sale. Adding more sites adds 10-15 minutes per site.
Do I have to stop selling while I migrate?+
No. We recommend migrating after hours and leaving the first register opening for the next day, but the old system can stay active. Just make it clear to the team which one is the real one.
And if my catalog has 20,000 SKUs?+
The importer processes up to 50,000 lines per file. Very large catalogs we split by category and apply in batches — the wizard proposes it on its own.
What happens to my sales history?+
Sales history isn't migrated: you start clean in Puntovivo. You keep your reports from the old system as an archive. For most small businesses, this is what accountants recommend.

If your export has an odd structure, open an issue on GitHub with a sample (no sensitive data) and we'll work through it in the open.
